Happy New Year!

As we enter 2017, we are hopeful that our family will be deploying for Thailand 6 months or so after the new baby arrives. In our 21 week ultrasound, everything still looked healthy for Baby 4, and we are excited to meet this little one and find out whether it's a boy or girl in May!
Meanwhile, we continue to take one step at a time towards the mission field:
We moved! In early December we closed on the sale of our home and moved into a rental place here in Summerville, SC. God has provided a wonderful place for the remainder of our time here, and the move gave us some insight on how each of our children may struggle in the big move we are hoping to make later this year. Please pray that God will give us wisdom to know how to care for each of their hearts through these upcoming transitions.
In December, David and I had the opportunity to revisit one of our supporting churches in Denver, CO, and we were so encouraged by their love, support, and hearts for the unreached people of Isaan. As God continues to weave people into this story, we are amazed by the magnitude of all that He is working together!
It just happened to be the weekend of a heavy snow... so David got a chance to dig out the car and drive on ice. :)
One of the challenges while we are still living in the Western Hemisphere has been finding fun ways to engage our children with the Thai culture. For those of you who are also looking for interactive ways to foster young hearts for the unreached, we recommend this book, New Toes for Tia, by Larry Dinkins. While telling a sweet story about a little girl coming to believe in God, it gives many insights into Thai culture and beliefs:
It's available to purchase inexpensively online, and can be used to guide discussions about Thai beliefs of reincarnation, their fear of the spirit world, and how God made a way for freedom from fear and rituals for all people through Jesus. We recommend it (Sophie and Judah really enjoy it!).
Will you stop and pray with us right now for the people living in Isaan? This is a rooftop view of the city That Phanom, where there are no known believers or churches. Please pray that God would even now be working in hearts; that Isaan people would seek their Creator; that when the Word of Life is one day proclaimed, they would recognize it as truth.
Thank you all for your prayers and support! We thank the Father for you!

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
