"Missions exists because worship doesn't." – John Piper

"Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn't." – John Piper

The foundational purpose of missions is the fact that God is worthy of all praise and worship. Where people do not know His Name, they cannot worship Him. God is worthy of all of the worship in Isaan (Northeastern Thailand), yet right now many millions of people are bowing in bondage to idols. Please take a moment to watch this short and incredibly powerful video that gives just a glimpse into the hopelessness of the Isaan people:
Idol Graveyard
One minute video of an idol graveyard in southeast Asia.
"Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands.
They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see.
They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell.
They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk;
and they do not make a sound in their throat.
Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them."
-Psalm 115:4-8 ESV
The Isaan are an "unreached" people group, which means that it isn't just that the Isaan have not accepted the good news of the gospel...
...they currently have little or no opportunity to hear the gospel.
With a population of 21 million, only .2% are evangelical Christians (ie, 2 Christians per thousand people), and there are huge stretches of provinces with no known gospel presence at all. They have no written language, so they cannot even read the Bible in their native Isaan dialect. Without the intervention of the Most High God, most of these people will spend their lives bowing before carved images in hopes of obtaining favor and will die having never had the opportunity to hear about the God who created them to worship His great name. He is worthy to be worshiped among all the peoples, including the Isaan!
God has put a burden for the Isaan people on our hearts, and we are praying that He will give you the same burden. We are prayerfully taking steps to move our family to Thailand in 2016 and feel the Lord leading us to spend the next ten years serving with Team Isaan. Please partner with us in prayer!
  • Pray that God would make His Name great among the Isaan, and that He would receive the worship that He deserves.
  • Pray that God would break down the spiritual strongholds that have bound the Isaan to idol worship for generations upon generations.
  • Pray that God would continue to raise up a gospel witness for His name in Isaan. We believe that God will draw others to join us in this mission. Pray for more laborers!
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Matthew 24:14, ESV
